Intrinsic Quality has dealt with a wide variety of customer requests. These have included everything from simple go / no-go functional testers to complicated universal testers utilizing computer controlled instrumentation. Recently one of our customers, a company in the integrated circuit validation industry, requested Intrinsic Quality to build a universal tester for their transformer assemblies. However, these assemblies required hi-pot (hypot) and other testing done at high voltages.
IQ’s Safety in High Voltage Universal Testing:
To ensure operator safety, Intrinsic Quality engineered a plexi-glass enclosure for the DUT (device under test). Since the assembly was both bulky and heavy, it required a cart to safely transport it. The enclosure was built large enough to contain both the assembly being tested and the cart. A panel was mounted on the back of the enclosure to enable the testing.
The tester is designed for universal testing, and is able to test all the assembly’s different configurations. Implementation of the tester is expected to increase manufacturing throughput and improve quality control. The tester is controlled through custom created software. Test resources are accessed through the tester’s Virginia Panel interface with exchangeable fixtures. The tester’s graphic user interface makes the testing procedure a breeze.
